Welcome

Well, here's my second attempt at maintaining a blog. The one sophomore year kind of flopped after about 20 posts. Hopefully this one has a little more staying power.

My aim with this site is to keep everyone updated on what I'm up to with the Alliance for Catholic Education over the course of the next two years. If you are unsure of what exactly ACE is, I'll give a brief description here; more extensive information can be found on the ACE webpage.

Catholic education in this country is facing a time of crisis as a result of several powerful demographic changes. The University of Notre Dame created the Alliance for Catholic Education in the early 90s to help address many of those challenges. Its fundamental core is a Masters-granting, service teacher formation program. That is the program I am enrolled in. Basically, I will take classes this summer, teach middle school social studies in Mobile, AL next year, take classes again next summer, and teach in the same position the following school year. At the end of the two years, I will be given a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) and have two years of teaching experience under my belt. The ACE program has expanded rapidly over the past few years to include a School Administrators' formation program (ACE Leadership), a consulting branch for Catholic schools (ACE Consulting), and a range of other services. For more info, see their website.
